Jungle Hiking to El Bejuco Waterfall (3 days)

An excellent hike up a steep mountain with El Bejuco Waterfall always at our side. Primary rainforest of the Pico Bonito National Park, breathtaking nature, creeks, waterfalls and crystal clear swimming pools – join us in nature!

Day 1:
This great trip starts from the Omega Jungle Lodge: we hike down to the river, where you decide if you want to swim or do a 20ft cliff jump into a deep river pool. (We provide bags to keep our equipment dry). After a 20 min. walk in the giant riverbed of the Cangrejal River we enter the real jungle. The rainforest is outstanding! At midday we leave the track behind and hike up steep with the El Bejuco Waterfall (250 ft.) always at our side.

Our camp spot is right by where the waterfall drops, overlooking the whole Cangrejal valley and the Caribbean coast. There is a 25 ft waterfall just 100m at the back – enjoy your ‘natural therapeutic’ shower under the jungle waterfall. Your guide cooks on a campfire, and at 6 p.m. night falls and the nocturnal animals awaken.

Day 2:
After a Jungle campfire breakfast, off we go: with just a daypack it is much easier to hike. We hike up the whole mountain and return another way. There are areas of different vegetation and the surrounding nature is breathtaking. Again, take a shower under the Waterfall, have a campfire dinner, and sleep with the sounds of the rainforest enveloping you.

Day 3:
After a Jungle campfire breakfast we begin our trek down to the foot of the waterfall. On our way back we follow the Bejuco Creek: jump into a crystal clear pool and take a shower – and a therapeutic massage under the 30 ft. waterfall. When we reach the Cangrejal River we have to cross it again, this time in a shallower section. We take off our shoes, hold hands and walk through the knee-deep river. 20 min. later we are back at the Omega Jungle Lodge.
