Explore the Wildlife Refuge Cuero y Salado (full day)

Explore the wildlife refuge in la burra and boat through a magnificent mangrove lagoon.

We drive to La Union, 20 km outside La Ceiba (1 hr drive). Here we change our vehicle to a burra- a small, open–air railway cart or an old train. The ride takes approx. 30 min. and goes through a former coconut processing outpost that belongs to the Standard Fruit Co. This is consider a hot spot  for bird watching.

Bring your camera! Reaching the lagoon we board a boat and a guide from Cuero Y Salado Foundation takes us through the mangrove lagoon looking for birds, monkeys, bats, maybe an anteater, and learning about the mangroves and the history of the park.
